September 17, 2003: Our first dual meet of the season proved to be a great success, as Westhill captured two wins at once, outscoring Jamesville-Dewitt and Phoenix.  The meet was held at Pheonix's course (where the B1/B2 Meet is held), and for the first time in years, it wasn't snowing when we went up there (it felt a little weird running the course without a winter coat on).  Westhill runners Kevin Blaich and Tim Hartnett finished in an excellent exacta-style race, both dipping under 17 minutes.  Finishing next for Westhill were Matt Zych (6th overall), David Riccardi (7) and Greg Pallotta (8) to round off our scoring team and placing 5 guys ahead of JD's 3rd and Phoenix's 2nd.  Similar to the Cato-Meridian Invitational last Saturday, we had a tight pack of freshmen who worked well together during the race: Will Pierce, Brendan Smith, Kevin Centore, Jim Ross, and Pat Hartnett.  Also, a great opening race was run by freshman new-comer Mike Savastano, and by Mark Leonard, who took one for the team by going out very aggresively and leading the first mile.  Finally, our congrats go to the girls team for defeating both opponents as well today. Great job to everyone (from all 3 teams) for a competitve meet today.
